Rudd Mountain Trail: Climbing incredibly steeply in places, this demanding trail covers the old ski runs on Rudd Mountain, and takes tough hikers close to the top of Proctor Mountain.At the low, west end of this trail, the route tackles the ridge of Rudd Mountain, famous as a place where Sun Valley developed some of its earliest chairlift accessed ski runs. The old lift is still in place, and once on top of the first step of this trail, at the top of Rudd, the old lift shack, chairs and towers are a neat sight to see. In the background are Baldy and Dollar Mountains. All the accouterments, technologies, and amenities found on such posh ski resort slopes pose quite a contrast to the single-chair contraption next to you.
